It's been a rough winter season here on the East Coast and I think I can speak for most people when I say that we're welcoming Spring with open arms.

Spring also kick starts a busy home improvement season which is good news for HRN owners as well. Calls are coming in daily from homeowners with a wide array of home improvement projects from painting to landscaping.

To give you an idea of the types of jobs referred by an HRN as well as the earning potential for this type of business, I thought I'd share with you three calls I had this week:

1. Tree removal: After the Noreaster last month, hundreds of trees were uprooted and my contractors were working round the clock. Commissions for tree removals ranged from $300 to $700.

2. Landscaping: Several of my clients are interested in sprucing up and/or overhauling the landscaping in their yards. For some, this will include masonry work as well. We're working on a front yard this month with an estimated commission of $1100.

3. Custom mosaics: I've just included a new contractor in my network who does high end custom marble mosaic work. He's scheduled to install a mural for one of my clients this week and my commission will be $1000.
